new england and the hudson valley tour: day one |New York

tour: day one |New York
September – October 2019

We were staying in the hotel where the tour departed from – Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, so on the first day of the tour we needed to go to the lobby of the hotel, find our tour guide leader (Nancy) and check in with her.

At 6pm we were to meet in the lobby of the hotel where we would meet our tour companions for the first time. We all headed en masse to the Heartland Brewery and Chophouse which upon checking has now permanently closed. I don’t wish ...

new england and the hudson valley : arrival | New York

arrival | New York
September – October 2019

Back in 2019 (…and it’s nearly 2022), my husband, mum and I went on a trip to the USA! We had booked to do a tour with Globus – New England and the Hudson Valley and despite my initial reservations about a group tour, it was honestly one of the best things I have ever done in my life.

The plan was that my husband and I would fly from Tokyo to JFK and my mum would meet us there, flying in from the UK. Our flights were due to arrive at ...

Mt. Nokogiriyama

Have you been wondering what I did during this year’s Golden Week? Going out of your mind imagining all the amazing things I probably got up to? Well the wait is over! It must be good if it’s taken me this long to get something together, eh?

Hagi days

The green was melon and the white-orange was natsumikan which Hagi is famous for – it’s everywhere.

We then went to La Ceiba for dinner which I throughly recommend. It’s the second time I’ve been. The first time I was eating meat but this time I ...

p p p palau: part five – hotel and eats

The last of the Palau posts, that calls for a collective sigh I believe. It was good whilst it lasted, or maybe it wasn’t. For this post, I’m going to introduce our hotel and some of the food we ate. Not all of the food because I forgot to take photos, you have to live life!

We stayed at the Palau Plantation Resort. Did we like the hotel? Yes. Did we like the reception staff? Most, but not all. (This is only about the people on reception, everyone else was absolutely fantastic!) Firstly, we were the only non-Japanese guests ...
