sweltering in the hot hiroshima heat: day two (Rivers Cuomo)

It was a breakfast buffet at the hotel with plenty of options! I tend to not have much of an appetite in the summer but my husband isn’t like that, maybe because he grew up with the heat.

After breakfast we got the bus to Shukkeien Garden・縮景園 which I loved. I love gardens anyway but I think this was one of the best I’ve been to in Japan. It was blistering heat and not very crowded. There were lots of turtles and koi in the pond and I felt sorry for them with the heat. Animals have done nothing to ...

nishinohama beach

We’re already at the halfway mark of the year. How has it been so far for everyone? The world seems a bit dark at the moment but I hope you’re managing to find some happiness amongst the gloom.

tateyama snowy landscape

We took a bus trip along the Kurobe Alpen Route and you can see the tour linked here (name in Japanese if the link gets taken down is: 新宿[都庁]発】迫力満点!絶景の立山黒部アルペンルート「雪の大谷ウォーク」と世界遺産・白川郷&飛騨高山2日間).

Not long after, we went to Hagi for Golden Week. We enjoyed lazy days, eating and spending time in air cleaner (hopefully, but who knows) than Tokyo.

october means pumpkins in tokyo in autumn

Happy October everyone! I don’t think October means pumpkins for most of the residents of Tokyo, but maybe some lost souls out there.

We went to Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome, which we have been to before and you can find the post here. Looking back at that post, I’ve taken pretty much the exact same pictures, so maybe just read this one.

It wasn’t empty like last time and you had to reserve a time slot. The photographers were out in FULL force – we saw children being paraded around dressed as pumpkins, witches and Snow White. That’s ...

natsume soseki memorial museum tokyo, waseda, tokyo

I love Natsume Soseki and there is a museum dedicated to him in Waseda, Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum, Tokyo. It’s built on the site where he used to live and it is a beautiful building inside.

Soseki museum entrance

Here’s a link to the walking map.

Soseki cafe with two coffees

There is also a cafe inside and I did like the coffee. We didn’t get any of the sweets because they were sold out of the 空也もなか but I don’t think we missed much.

veggie cafe, taco rice

For lunch we went to Cafe VG which is a veggie place and was lovely.

I was glad to visit the Soseki ...

meanderings

Just meandering out and about. Enjoying the ‘fresh’ air and the sun on our backs.

I’m using photos from two days here and pretending they are one. The jig’s up now though! I’m my own worse enemy, I just sabotaged myself and didn’t even bat an eyelid whilst doing it. Doesn’t it look like autumn in these photos? But it’s not! It’s winter because it’s December. Unbelievable.

So now it’s day two and we had a mission for this day. Our mission was go to Blue Bottle Coffee and Dandelion. It was a pig day and we weren’t (and ...
