massive kakigōri and Indian curry in kasai

sign in a coffee shop displaying kakigori and iced coffees

Lately it’s been cool enough to go for walks again, so we headed over to Komeda Coffee in Kasai which opens until 23:00.

My husband had a HUGE strawberry kakigōri which he added condensed milk to and to which they added ice cream as well. They put the ice cream on by mistake, so gave it to him free of charge. It was a very chemically tasting kakigōri made too sweet by the condensed milk if you ask me – I didn’t get asked but I did give my opinion :) I had the ice cream cone in a bowl ...

fruit parlor fukunaga

For my husband’s birthday/our wedding anniversary we went to Fruit Parlour Fukunaga – you can follow them on Twitter here.  It was delightful!  As you can see, we went greedy!

First up we have a cherry parfait and (large, I think) plate of fresh fruit.

Then the fruit sandwiches which I liked very much. I hadn’t ever had a fruit sandwich before coming to Japan, but now I have delighted upon them, I have become quite fond. You can find them at the supermarkets and conbinis too if you don’t have time to go to a fruit parlour. The ...

loving hut – tokyo, japan

I’ve realised recently that I have ridiculously long arms, like an orangutan (I’m getting a red line under this word and I don’t know why) so I had to cut them out of the photo. They are too distracting.

Anyway, enough about me (it never is) and more about the food. I went to Loving Hut in Jimbocho with my husband. We didn’t go for the lunchtime buffet, but I think we would next time, we went for dinner instead. I think it’s only open on Saturdays, at select times, so do check that it will be open if you ...

worth spending on

I do try to be frugal and money conscious but I also like to spend money on good quality foods and if possible, local and independent retailers.  So, can you guess what’s coming next?  I’m going to show you what I bought this Saturday with these ideologies in mind.

Honey made from orange flowers.  They also threw in a little sample of a hand cream. [find here]

Mikan jam.  No, it’s not marmalade because they had a marmalade. Excited to try this. [find here]

Pancake mix.  I know, I do normally make my own but I tried some ...

lazy sunday

Oh what a lovely Sunday, oh what a beautiful day.  It was such a nice Sunday!  We went down to the beachy bit at Kasai Rinkai Park and walked around.  There were a lot of people in the actual park bit but not so many on the beach which was nice as I’m not a huge fan of crowded places.  ‘Why do you live in Tokyo then?’  you might ask and the answer is, I don’t know.  Anyway, enjoy the pictures and make sure to visit if you haven’t already.

You can see Disney off in the distance.  The ...
