june memories 2023

june memories

The Rainy season in Kanto started on the 8th June this year but we haven’t had much rain. We’ve had lots of overcast days but also days with nice blue skies. The hydrangeas have been out in full force with all their pretty blues, purples, pinks and whites.

Some of my husband’s family came to visit Japan this June, so we met up with them when they were in Tokyo. We took them to Asakusa and had wonderful gelato at I’m mikan. I had a citrus flavour and milk – both were really good. My husband asked ...

june and july memories

The cicadas have finally started making their little chirps (quite noisy little creatures really) and the temperatures are soaring. Europe had a heatwave too and the world just seems to be going crazy! Take care in the heat.

We went on a boat – link here for the one we did which was really good. I emailed Miho and her English was impeccable, so no worries there. When we got to the boat, I was the only, shall we say, non-Japanese looking person in our group of ten. She started speaking in Japanese and it was ...

pancakes at accueil

Mikan jam.  No, it’s not marmalade because they had a marmalade. Excited to try this. [find here]

Pancake mix.  I know, I do normally make my own but I tried some ...

the years come and go so fast

It was my birthday the other week.  The picture above is of Paris which is where I was last year when I turned 28.  Unfortunately, we were there when the tragedy took place.  This year, we stayed local.  We spent the day in Omotesando, Harajuku and finally Shibuya.

For lunch we went to Aoyama Flower Market.  I recommend it if you like flowers.  It was really pretty and the food was nice too.  We didn’t have to wait too long, around 30 minutes, but when we came out, the queue was massive and the sign said 60 minute wait!

I ...
