A summer afternoon at Nezu Museum

My husband took a half day off this week and we decided to head to Nezu Museum in Omotesando/Aoyama. I’d been wanting to go for a bit, mainly for the garden and it didn’t disappoint. It was also quite small and not very busy, so it was a nice way to while away an hour. We booked online but I think you can just turn up. If it’s busy though, they might turn you away.

I misread the sign in the garden and thought it was called ‘The Forbidden Garden’ but on closer inspection, it was pointing out forbidden items. ...

summer is kakigori in sunamachi ginza

Summer felt like it had well and truly hit Tokyo this Sunday. Temps were at 32ºC, feeling like 35ºC!! We’ve had to cave and put the aircon on. I feel very sorry for those people who don’t have aircon or can’t afford to run it.

We headed over to Sunamachi Ginza Shopping District again and had intended to get ice cream again. When we got to the shop though it was full, so we trotted on up to 焼きそば・かき氷専門店 GOFUKU. There was a queue and we ummed and ahhed about joining said queue in the (did I mention how ...

massive kakigōri and Indian curry in kasai

sign in a coffee shop displaying kakigori and iced coffees

Lately it’s been cool enough to go for walks again, so we headed over to Komeda Coffee in Kasai which opens until 23:00.

My husband had a HUGE strawberry kakigōri which he added condensed milk to and to which they added ice cream as well. They put the ice cream on by mistake, so gave it to him free of charge. It was a very chemically tasting kakigōri made too sweet by the condensed milk if you ask me – I didn’t get asked but I did give my opinion :) I had the ice cream cone in a bowl ...

june and july memories and august wish list

june and july memories

The cicadas have finally started making their little chirps (quite noisy little creatures really) and the temperatures are soaring. Europe had a heatwave too and the world just seems to be going crazy! Take care in the heat.

We went on a boat – link here for the one we did which was really good. I emailed Miho and her English was impeccable, so no worries there. When we got to the boat, I was the only, shall we say, non-Japanese looking person in our group of ten. She started speaking in Japanese and it was ...

todoroki valley

So, I am finall getting up my photos for Todoroki Valley. I went in June, so this is Todoroki Valley in June. I imagine it must be absolutely gorgeous in the autumn, so would recommend. I used to live really close to this place but I wasn’t aware of that fact at the time. Instead, I waited until I was living on the other side of Tokyo to visit; It only took over an hour to get there. It was a really beautiful place though and I would recommend going if you’re living in the city and want some peace ...
