march + april memories

Cherry blossom season was a bit up and down this year weather-wise. One day it would be lovely, bright, warm sunshine and the next it would be cold and rainy.

Each year, I try to go to one new place to see sakura and this year I managed a couple – locally, Tsukishima and Monzennakacho. We went on a night river cruise from Monzennakacho which was special.

My husband’s friend was in Tokyo during March/April and we went for monjayaki at Tsukishima. I’d never had it before and I didn’t think I’d care for it – ...

jan + feb memories and march wish list 2023

Another 2 months, nothing productive done as usual. I start the same way every year – full of great ambitions and hopes for the year ahead and then waste my time like I have an infinite amount of it. Is that just me?

I am being slightly harsh here because I actually really like lurking around the apartment all day normally anyway, so life didn’t change too much for me in that sense. However, we did do a few things. Tokyo has been under a state of emergency off and on but it hasn’t been anywhere near as strict as other countries.

We spent Christmas and New Year here. We went for a cycle ...

Time really does go quickly, doesn’t it? This year it seems to have stood still but then when you look at the date, you realise it’s still moving, perhaps even more so than normal.

Like most people, I am assuming, we haven’t done much. My days have been spent trying to learn how to bake bread, studying Japanese, cooking new things, crafting and navigating the apartment now my husband is working from home (this is still an ongoing learning opportunity).

I’ve also been back and forth to the hospital with thyroid issues, specifically a toxic nodule goitre, causing me to ...
