supermarket shopping in tokyo – Jul17 W1

This fine lot cost us ¥7,184 which is steep.  We did manage to get a few yellow stickers but still…  You should know that in Japan your supermarket shopping can cost you more than you might be used to, especially with fruit and veg.  The plus side is that the fruit and veg do tend to taste very nice.

We got a few savings including some half price things and some things with a 30% discount.  We went to Aeon at around 9pm.

I thought this would last us the week, but oh no!  I ended up spending a lot of money this week – a lot more than usual but hopefully it will last.

july totals

Week 1: ¥16,174

what did we eat?

Monday: Chilli with brown rice and avocado.  This is a brilliant recipe: I really recommend it. Note: the picture above is of a previous chilli but it’s better than nothing!

Tuesday: Puff pastry with pesto, tomato and mozzarella with steamed veg and a few potatoes.  I’ve made this multiple times, very quick and easy but really does taste great.

Wednesday: Summer vegetable crumble.  However, not with a crumble topping, with a potato topping, so pie?

Thursday: Spaghetti with tomato sauce and a side salad.

Friday: General Tso’s Cauliflower with noodles and some stir-fried veggies.  This took a lot of prep and it was no easy feat making it in my tiny kitchen but it tasted nice, just a little too salty for my tastes.

I ended up eating the leftover chilli all week which was nice for lunches.  I am one of those people who can eat the same thing over and over and not get bored which works in my favour.

I hope you had some tasty meals this week  – let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations.

Thanks for reading,

Emily
