Would you rather be with someone who has loved you from afar for 25 years or with someone you kind of get on with, like a sort of friend but more like an acquaintance? It’s two extremes in this programme. Let me give you more details.
Option 1:
Not only does Mr 25 Years know everything about you, but he has organised his entire life around you to the extent of going to the same middle school, high school and university. BUT THEN, also doing the same course as you at uni and entering the same company as you (the one your father owns) and orchestrating it so that he ends up in your department.
Option 2:
Mr Acquaintance says he wasn’t hit by anything initially when he saw you and he isn’t even sure whether you should go out with each other but he does enjoy spending time with you. Then, you have to convince him that maybe not everyone experiences love the same way as Mr 25 Years and perhaps that’s all right for them? He listens to that argument and then says, all right.
This isn’t the choice in the programme, but it is offered to the viewer (not that the programme is that deep!). I think I’d go option 3, rather than pick between being with a friend or a stalker, I’d go with being on my own in that scenario. Maybe stalker is better than friend though. I wouldn’t go out with someone just because we got on well, that’s called being friends. I wouldn’t want sex with my friend, that’s why they are a friend and stay in the friend category no matter how much they might try to convince you otherwise. At least the stalker put effort in and wants you. Being friends well into the relationship is fine but starting off like that? I don’t think that’s such a great idea, personally.
Stalker or acquaintance, that’s your choice.
I’m watching this as my current listening practice and it’s certainly keeping me amused. Can’t wait to see how it ends!
