sakura galore 2024 edition

It’s been a bit cloudy and miserable this spring and the cherry blossoms have been really late. I feel sorry for people that booked to come on holiday around them because a lot probably missed them.

I started at Midtown in Roppongi or Tokyo Midtown as it’s known because that’s what it’s called. There are a lot of Midtowns about now though. It’s the garden just outside and it was very pleasant. Lot’s of people with dogs in prams. I think if Japan were to ban dogs being pets, the birth rate would bounce back.

I did quite a lot of walking that day and it was marred by my socks because they kept falling down. Do socks that don’t fall down exist? Please tell me which ones.

Local area now.

Curry at Indiyumm which is my kind of humour (on a parr with a walking stick shop called Fantastick). We went for lunch which unbeknownst to us was a buffet at ¥1,200 each and ALL of it vegetarian. AND, you got a choice of naan or chapati.

Back to Monzennakacho but this time, at night!

Finally I present to you the wonderful Kasai Rinkai Park.

But no! Not finally! We have more. We have balding sakura, sakura in full bloom, sakura petals on the floor and a later blooming type of sakura. Also, blue skies. It was torrential rain yesterday (9/4/24), so I wasn’t expecting to see much on my walk today, but how wrong I was.

I hope you’ve enjoyed sakura season. I’ve felt it’s been a bit lacklustre this year, but maybe I’m just being miserable.

Emily

P.S. I know I keep messing with the font size – aesthetically I like it better smaller, but it’s hard to see, so I think I just need to get over it.
