cloudy october day in Koishikawa Botanical Garden 小石川植物園

Autumn in Tokyo this year feels a bit like autumn in Manchester. It’s been cloudy and rainy and cold when it’s usually blue skies with streaming, warm sun. What’s happening?

This Saturday we went to Koishikawa Botanical Garden in Bunkyo-ku. Wed never been before and I was surprised with how wild it was – normally a lot of gardens and parks here are either highly manicured spaces or just grass. It felt like an English park. It was quite busy in the main bit of the park, but if you went off exploring, you could find pockets of solitude. It was ¥500 to get in.

After our time in the park, we went towards Hakusan Station, to Yasai cafe KuKuri and we both had the lunch plate at ¥1,320. It was some of the best vegan food I’ve had here and we will definitely be back.

Afterwards, we came across Pegasus, a Showa era coffee shop. My husband loves places like this. The only problem with them (for me) is that they are usually smoking places. I had a cappuccino which wasn’t a cappuccino but was nice all the same (sweet), my husband had the cake set with coffee at an economical ¥680.

I hope you had a good weekend.
Emily
