march + april memories and may wish list 2023

march + april memories

Cherry blossom season was a bit up and down this year weather-wise. One day it would be lovely, bright, warm sunshine and the next it would be cold and rainy.

Each year, I try to go to one new place to see sakura and this year I managed a couple – locally, Tsukishima and Monzennakacho. We went on a night river cruise from Monzennakacho which was special.

My husband’s friend was in Tokyo during March/April and we went for monjayaki at Tsukishima. I’d never had it before and I didn’t think I’d care for it – I thought I would find it too slimy – but I really liked it and want to go back. It was really busy which surprised me, although I’m not sure why. Afterwards we bought melon pan from KYUEI MELON PAN which I thought was ok. We walked to PRONTO – Kayabacho which opens as a bar at night.

I finally got around to going to a TeamLab exhibition. I can be a bit miserable – I won’t deny that. I’m glad I went but I wouldn’t go again, to any other TeamLab exhibition.

Nezu Azalea Festival was/is going on at Nezu Shrine (which has all the red tori gates). After that we trotted up to Yanaka Ginza and finally on to Rikugien Gardens.

I was solo in Omotesando and went to Meiji Jingu to check out Meiji Jingu Gyoen – you pay so it’s usually not too busy.

I did quite well the last two months! The back room was tidied, the sakura were viewed and I actually did some N1 studying.
