Anyone for Chicago-style pizza?

My experience of Chicago pizza up until the beginning of March 2024 was Chicago Town frozen pizzas that we have in the UK (no idea if they are anywhere else, I don’t care enough to look it up). How I wish I could go back in time to that state of blissful ignorance. However, I have since been tainted. I was forced to go to a place called DevilCraft – the perfect name. They are popular – you can see the reviews for yourself and everyone seems to love the pizza. I don’t know how authentic it is but if it is authentic, I never want to eat it ever again. I’m sorry if you love it but we can’t all love the same things.

My problems:

  1. too much cheese (I’ve not been able to stomach cheese on toast in over a month)
  2. too much (whole) tomato (and if you look at the pictures on the website, they don’t look like they use chunky tomato)
  3. dessert was far too sweet

Positives:

  1. veggie opitions (can be quite rare in Japan)
  2. Dr. Pepper and root beer (very rare in Japan)
  3. staff were normal and fairly attentive and spoke to me like I was normal aka Japanese
not only was the pecan pie really sweet, they used the artificial sweet cream too – why?

I met up with an American friend recently and asked him what he thought of them. His response was, ‘does anyone like it?’ which only really goes to prove my point.

Recently, I’m seeing this style of pizza popping up everywhere – why? Why is there a demand for it?

What do you reckon? Like them? Detest them? Can you guess which one I am?
