not the coffee I made : London_21 west

am

I woke up really early this morning (for me) – 6am. I had a bit of bad news yesterday about my Grandad – he’s poorly and is in hospital now and I couldn’t get to sleep until about 1am. The time difference makes it hard to keep in the loop so I’ll speak to my mum today about him and see what to do.

I’d made focaccia dough last night, so I sorted this out and then made coffee. Feeling unusually productive, I did my Duolingo for the day (Italian) ...

2022 golden week trip to hagi, yamaguchi: part 3

stone lantern with purple azalea

Day five and we were temple hopping. We started off at Daishōin Temple・大照院 which has a lantern festival in August and is a very pretty time to go.

Then we headed back to ‘town’, to go for lunch at CotoCoto. They had pictures of a vegan lunch menu on their instagram, but unfortunately when we went, the lady said that the person doing those had left, so they’d stopped doing them. We just ended up getting drinks – it was disappointing. The shop itself is really nice and they have a beautiful garden at the back. If you eat ...

myojin pond

We’re back and straight into day three where we found ourselves getting the bus to Myojin Pond and Kasayama.

Itsukushima Shrine at myojin pond

We walked to the top which is very doable – it’s just a road and this was the view. There was a coffee shop at the top which we went to, but I’d pass if we were to go again. We sat on beanbag seats which I struggled to get up from and staggered about whilst being watched by a group who were pretend staring out the window, pretending not to watch, but they were watching! I could feel their side ...

natsume soseki memorial museum tokyo, waseda, tokyo

I love Natsume Soseki and there is a museum dedicated to him in Waseda, Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum, Tokyo. It’s built on the site where he used to live and it is a beautiful building inside.

Here’s a link to the walking map.

Soseki cafe with two coffees

There is also a cafe inside and I did like the coffee. We didn’t get any of the sweets because they were sold out of the 空也もなか but I don’t think we missed much.

veggie cafe, taco rice

For lunch we went to Cafe VG which is a veggie place and was lovely.

I was glad to visit the Soseki ...

meanderings

Just meandering out and about. Enjoying the ‘fresh’ air and the sun on our backs.

I’m using photos from two days here and pretending they are one. The jig’s up now though! I’m my own worse enemy, I just sabotaged myself and didn’t even bat an eyelid whilst doing it. Doesn’t it look like autumn in these photos? But it’s not! It’s winter because it’s December. Unbelievable.

So now it’s day two and we had a mission for this day. Our mission was go to Blue Bottle Coffee and Dandelion. It was a pig day and we weren’t (and ...
